In the first IMLS funded expanded internship at one of our partner institutions, Dahmere Jones worked at Newport Restoration Foundation over the summer of 2015. During his time with NRF, Dahmere learned about the day-to-day operations of several departments and served as a staff photographer for all summer programs. This hands-on internship gave him the opportunity to assist with public programs, participate in behind-the-scenes museum operations, and work as part of a team.
His intuitive sense for capturing an image and providing commentary yielded a wonderful photographic blog post for NRF, excerpted below, that summarizes the internship from his perspective.
