Graduating UMASS seniors Virginia Luongo, Trish Birk, Audrey Cain and Lauren Scharf came to Newport Art Museum today with their Senior Seminar Art History Professor, Anna Dempsey, to meet the Porsmouth High MUSE students and view their exhibition currently on view in the Museum’s Griswold House galleries.
The UMASS students mounted their own exhibition entitled Swain: A Creative Community, and they also shared their experiences from their work on that project. Talk ranged from how curators make choices of artists to show, how to feature their work, puling together many items to make a coherent show and how to tell the story of the show.
It was an amazing opportunity for the high school students to meet and learn about exhibition design and curating from these brilliant Art History graduates. We were truly grateful to them for getting together with us!
